Fluid mechanics plays a fundamental and key role in engineering education. Lectures and laboratory exercises on fluid mechanics are a part of the standard curriculum for a wide range of engineering disciplines.

In many settings, the Hydraulic Bench acts as a base unit, allowing tutors to swap out individually experiment modules on these self-contained benches, reducing lab set-up time, space requirements, and cost.
The open channel and permeable flow also enable the practical teaching and demonstration of phenomena such as critical and sub critical flow, hydraulic jump, dune formation and ground water flow. There are many accessories available for use with the flow channels enabling them to be used as both teaching and research aids.
Within the range of flow in pipes, there are equipment for fluid machinery demonstrating performances in various types of pumps and turbines, pressure and flow measurements of water, Bernoulli’s theorem, fluid friction, energy loss, flow visualization and so forth.
