The equipment is used for the investigation of torsion and torsional rigidity in rods, and tubes. It is to be used with ST305 Universal Base Frame or ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied) for attachment of the accessories.
The apparatus consists of two columns attached to the base frame. One end of the specimen is clamped to one of the column. A lever arm is attached to the specimen at any test length from the first column for measurement of the angle of twist. A pulley for load hanging can be freely rotated in the second column. The other end of the specimen is clamped to the pulley.
Angle of twist is measured by a dial gauge for the lever movement. Torque is measured by the load and pulley diameter.
Instruction manual is also included.
The relationship between specimen length, torque and angular deflection
The behavior of specimens of different materials and cross-sections
Comparison of angular deflection in similar hollow and solid rods.
Polar moment of inertia.
