This equipment is used for measurement of horizontal thrust and end fixing moments of the abutment for comparison with model analysis and simplified theory. It is to be used with ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied) for attachment of the accessories.

A parabolic arch has one end pivoted on a moment support and fitted with an arm for applying and measuring moments and rotations.  The other end is pivoted in ball bearings on a horizontal force support. Load hangers and weights are attached to the arch. Load hangers are used for measurement of horizontal thrust and fixing moment.

The equipment allows direct measurement of the horizontal component of the abutment thrust of a two hinged parabolic arch by using a simple model. It is to be used with ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied) for attachment of the accessories.

A parabolic arch of uniform cross-section has one end of the arch on a fixed hinged pin and the other is on bearings on a horizontal force support.  The horizontal movement of the roller end is monitored by a dial indicator. The equipment demonstrates the use of tension coefficients in resolving three dimensional forces. It is to be used with ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied) for attachment of the accessories.

A space frame is constructed from two tension members and one compression member. Each member has a built-in spring balance. The three members are joined together at an apex where a load is suspended. The other end of the compression member is a ball joint fixed to the bed and the other ends of the tension members have chains for attachment to two stationary columns. All joints can be slightly swiveled to minimize fixing moment. Resulting force for each member is measured by a three dimensions co-ordinate scale.

The equipment is used for studying the equilibrium of five concurrent and non-concurrent forces in a three-dimensional system.

A rigid box frame has four swiveling pulleys at the top corners and leveling screws at the legs. Four cords, each with a load hanger outside the frame, pass over the pulleys and meet inside the frame concurrently or non-concurrently with an additional cord between two joints. A vertical load with a cord is applied at one of the joints. Each cord is marked out a 100 mm length.
